Two Arrested in Rehoboth Beach Bank Robbery

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested two men in connection with last Saturday afternoon's robbery of the Capital One Bank branch located at 19268 Old Landing Road in Rehoboth Beach. 

According to police, tips from the public helped detectives identify and link 18-year-old Lamar M. Smith, of the Travelers Inn Motel on North Walnut Street in Milford, and his brother, 27-year-old Mark A. Smith, of South Old State Road in Ellendale, to the robbery. 

Police said that on Wednesday morning, May 27, troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle identified as the suspect vehicle in the Capitol One Bank robbery. Troopers said the driver, Mark A. Smith, and passenger, Lamar M. Smith, were taken into custody and transported to Troop 4. Interviews were conducted where both suspects were implicated in the robbery, according to police. 

Lamar Smith was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $68,000 secured bond. 

The elder Smith brother was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy second degree. He was ordere held in the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $62,000 secured bond.
