Dover Police: One Injured in Shooting Incident, Search for Suspect Continues

DOVER, Del. - Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday night at the Alder Park Apartment complex in Dover.

Troopers say it happened around 9 p.m. Sunday when a 22-year-old man was found lying on the ground in the 1000 block of Nathaniel Mitchell Road suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition, according to police.

Police say a preliminary investigation suggests the victim was shot in the area of the "J" building at the apartment complex on Webbs Lane and ran to where he was found on Nathaniel Mitchell Road.

"I heard about approximately 6 shots, sitting in the driveway, and then, all of a sudden, we saw a young gentleman run over to a house and he collapsed in front of a car," one witness in the complex told WBOC. 

Police said there was no information on the suspect as of Monday morning.

Some residents told WBOC the violence makes them feel unsafe. "With all this stuff going on, it makes people just not want to live here. It makes people feel not safe" said a resident who's name was not given.
