Man Injured in Hartly Area Carjacking

Posted:

HARTLY, Del.– Delaware State Police say a man had to be rushed to the hospital after being knocked unconscious in a carjacking that happened late Sunday night northeast of Hartly.

Troopers said that at around 10:30 p.m., the 45-year-old victim had  stopped his car in the area of the 1400 block of Lockwood Chapel Road to assist what he thought was a stranded female motorist. Police said the victim rendered assistance to the female by starting her car, and as he began to get out of her vehicle, a second person struck him in the head with an unknown object, rendering him temporarily unconscious. When the victim regained consciousness, he ran to a nearby home where the occupants notified 9-1-1. Police said the victim's vehicle, a maroon in color 2008 Chevrolet Trail Blazer with Delaware registration PC424217, had been stolen in the process.

The victim was transported by EMS to Bayhealth–Kent General Hospital where he was admitted with undetermined head injuries.

Police said the first suspect was described as a white female with blond hair (no further physical or clothing description given). The victim was unable to offer any description of a second suspect.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to contact the DSP Troop 3 Major Crimes Unit at (302) 697-2104. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword "DSP."
