Virginia Beach Police Say Dog Bound, Burned Alive

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach police say a dog died after its front and back legs were bound together and it was set on fire.

Police said in news release Monday that animal control officers and city firefighters found the deceased dog Friday after responding to a brush fire. The dog was a medium-sized, adult, gray and white female believed to be a pit-type breed. Police say an investigation determined that the dog was alive when it was set on fire.

Animal Control Officer Sheila Irving is the lead investigator.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the fire or the dog's owner call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-562-5887 or text "VBTIP" and the information to 274637.
