Arrest Made After Barricade Situation in Salisbury

Posted: Updated:
SALISBURY, Md. - A barricade situation in Salisbury Tuesday leads to one arrest.

Salisbury Police say officers were dispatched to a building at the Island Club Apartment complex just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to investigate a reported dispute between neighbors. Officers say 50-year-old Ira Neal Finkle threatened to run his neighbors over with his car. Police say Finkle was also overheard stating that he had a gun.

Police say when officers attempted to contact Finkle at his apartment, he refused to answer the door. After efforts were exhausted by the officers, the Salisbury Police Department's Hostage Negotiation Team and Tactical Team were activated and responded to the scene, according to police.

After a short period of time, police say negotiators and tactical team members successfully established contact with Finkle and he was taken into custody without further incident. Finkle was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for evaluation, according to police.

The investigation remains on-going at this time and anyone with information is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department (410)548-3165 or Crime Solvers (410) 548-1776.

Progress on Bowers Beach Drainage Project at Mercy of the Tides

Wrapping up the major replacement of a drainage system beneath an oft-flooded in Bowers Beach has proved to be a slower process than some town officials and neighbors have hoped for.

A new drainage pipe has recently replaced a smaller and older one beneath Hubbard Avenue, a frequent spot for flooding after heavy rain. The system is intended to help flood waters disperse more quickly into the Murderkill River.
