Education Dept's Longest Current Sex Assault Investigations

In May of 2014, the U.S. Department of Education made public a list of schools under investigation for possible Title IX violations stemming from allegations of sexual violence. At the time, 55 schools were on the list.

As of June 3, 2015, there are 129 cases at 116 schools.

These are the longest-running open investigations:

T1. University of Massachusetts-Amherst: four years; investigation opened June 30, 2011

T1. University of Virginia: four years; opened June 30, 20113. Michigan State University: three years, 11 months; opened July 21, 20114. Wittenberg University: three years, 10 months; opened Aug. 25, 20115. Arizona State University: three years, five months; opened Jan. 26, 2012
