German Discount Grocer Lidl to Put US Headquarters in Va.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe says German discount supermarket chain Lidl will build its U.S. headquarters and a separate distribution center in Virginia, creating 700 jobs.
    
McAuliffe announced Friday that Lidl will invest $77 million in the Arlington County headquarters and build a $125 million distribution center and regional headquarters in Spotsylvania County.
    
The moves will create 500 jobs at the U.S. headquarters and 200 jobs at the Spotsylvania County site.
    
McAuliffe made the announcement after meeting with company leaders at its international headquarters in Neckarsulm, Germany.
    
Lidl operates nearly 10,000 stores in 26 countries throughout Europe.
    
McAuliffe is on an 11-day trade trip to Europe.
