Chickens Seized During Cockfighting Investigation Euthanized

ODENTON, Md. (AP)- All 270 chickens seized in Anne Arundel County during a cockfighting investigation have been euthanized because of disease.
The chickens from the Odenton farm tested positive for four highly contagious diseases, including infectious bronchitis.
Neighbors say they are worried the diseases may linger on the property and spread.
Police said on Tuesday that a dog seized from the property has been adopted, as have three ducks, all of which tested negative for diseases.
The property's owner, 36-year-old Ethan Harmon, was arrested June 8 on 89 cockfighting-related charges. Police said investigators don't believe cockfighting was occurring at the farm, but that the birds were being raised there to be sold for cockfighting. Jail records do not indicate if Harmon has hired an attorney.
