SALISBURY, Md.- Police say a reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest of whoever is responsible for the early Sunday morning fatal shooting of a Wicomico County teen in a Salisbury parking lot.

Salisbury police said detectives with the department's Criminal Investigation Division are continuing their search for the suspect or suspects wanted in connection with the Aug. 2 murder of 17-year-old Rakim Lamont Russell of Fruitland, Md.

According to police, the investigation revealed that approximately 200 juveniles and young adults attended a party at the Americas Best Value Inn, located at 2625 N. Salisbury Blvd. Investigators said that as the gathering ended just after midnight, an unknown person or persons fired multiple gunshots into a group of people congregating in the parking lot. Police said the victim, who was shot one time, was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where and autopsy was completed and the manner of death confirmed as a homicide, police said.

Police are urging parents whose children attended the party at the Americas Best Value Inn on Saturday night to speak to their children about the incident and to contact police with any information. Crime Solvers has raised the reward being offered in this case, and will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.

The Salisbury Police Department was assisted by members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Delmar Police Department, Fruitland Police Department, Maryland State Police, and a K-9 Unit from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.

As the investigation continues, the Salisbury Police Department is urging anyone with information about this murder to contact Crime Solvers of the Lower Eastern Shore at (410) 548-1776 or the Salisbury Police Department at (410) 548-3165.
