PULASKI, Va. (AP) - The Virginia medical examiner's office says a 5-year-old Pulaski County boy whose body was found in a septic tank drowned.
Tracie Cooper, business manager at the office in Roanoke, said Wednesday an autopsy determined that hypothermia also contributed to the March 26 death of Noah Thomas. She said the manner of death is officially listed as "undetermined."
The Roanoke Times reports that another representative of the medical examiner's office was scheduled to testify about the autopsy at a preliminary hearing for the boy's parents Thursday.
Noah's mother, 31-year-old Ashley White, and the boy's father, 32-year-old Paul Thomas, are charged with two counts of felony child neglect involving Noah and his infant sister. A felony homicide charge against White was dropped Wednesday.
The parents are being held without bond.
