Police Investigate Hit-And-Run Involving Pedestrian in Magnolia

MAGNOLIA, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a serious hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian early Sunday morning.

Police say it happened just before 7 a.m. on Walnut Shade Road, just west of Magnolia.

According to police, a 77-year-old Magnolia man was walking on his property when a vehicle left the road and struck the man and his mailbox. 

Police said the pedestrian was thrown into the roadway and landed in the middle of the road. After impact, police said the vehicle fled the scene.

The victim was transported to the Kent General Hospital and was admitted in stable condition with multiple traumatic injuries.

Troopers said they continue to collect and analyze evidence at the scene to determine make and model of the striking vehicle.

Walnut Shade Road was closed for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Troopers are attempting to locate the driver and vehicle that fled this crash and request anyone with information in reference to this incident to contact, Trooper M.
