OCEAN CITY, Md. – Two Baltimore men have been arrested in Ocean City after police say they refused to pay their taxi fare and assaulted the driver.

According to the Ocean City Police Department, the incident happened around 2:45 a.m. Monday in the area of 126th Street and Coastal Highway. Responding officers said four individuals refused to pay a cab fare. They said two of them – 26-year-old Justin M. Washington and 24-year-old Troy M. Thomas - threatened and assaulted the driver before taking off with $60 in cash and the driver’s keys.

Officers at the scene also saw the suspects chasing the driver south on Coastal Highway, according to police. They said Thomas was holding a softball-sized rock. Washington was taken into custody without incident while Thomas was later arrested at a nearby condo, police said.

Police charged Thomas with assault, theft, possession of a deadly weapon, armed robbery and robbery. Washington was charged with robbery, assault and theft.

Police said Thomas was ordered held on $75,000 bond, which was later reduced to $25,000. Police said he remains in custody at the Ocean City Public Safety Building. Washington was released after posting $50,000 bond.
