DOVER, Del. – Dover police said a fingerprint left on a demand note used during the armed robbery of a Dollar Tree store led to the arrest of a Laurel, Md. man.

According to police, the robbery occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Dollar Tree located at 261 North DuPont Highway. Police said a white male suspect, later identified as Sean Wayda, of Laurel, Md., entered the store and gave a note to employees stating that he had a gun and demanded money. Police said Wayda pulled a firearm from his shorts and pointed it at employees. The employees gave Wayda an undisclosed amount of cash before he fled southbound from the scene, according to investigators.

The Dover Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit recovered the note used in the robbery and processed it for fingerprints. Police said Wayda was positively identified and was arrested by the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Wayda is currently being held in Maryland and awaiting extradition to Delaware, according to police.
