GEORGETOWN, Del. - Police are currently investigating a string of thefts from cars, which happened in the Georgetown area in the early morning hours of Aug. 21. Lt. Lawrence Grose of the Georgetown Police Department said an unknown suspect or suspects broke into cars by shattering windows.

"We've had several break-ins of approximately seven vehicles," Grose said. "Normally we ask the public to lock their doors. But a lot of them were locked and they were busting out the windows."

Grose said many items were stolen from the vehicles, including cellphones, GPS units, purses, and iPods.

"We're just asking people, until we can get a handle on this, if they can take all that stuff inside their house," Grose said.

If you observe a "suspicious person/persons, suspicious vehicles, or anything that appears out-of-place," police are asking for you to call 9-1-1 or the Georgetown Police Department at (302) 856-6613.
