CANTERBURY, Del. – Troopers have arrested a Frankford man for DUI after he crashed his vehicle into a fence and horse trailers near Canterbury early Wednesday morning.

According to police, Huseyin Oflu, 65, of Frankford was operating a 1997 Nissan Altima southbound on South DuPont Highway just north of Irish Hill Road at around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday. Police said the Nissan crossed over the center median and across the northbound lanes before colliding with a fence and two horse trailers at Delwood Trailers Inc. According to police, the car drove through another fence on the property, struck a Verizon utility box and came to a stop in the Canterbury Shore Stop after hitting a road sign.

A witness stopped to help with the crash when he saw Oflu throwing beer cans from his car into the parking lot, according to police. Troopers arrived shortly after and took Huseyin Oflu to Troop 3 where they launched a DUI investigation. Oflu was cited and later released after being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to remain within a single lane, failure to have insurance in possession and littering.
