GEORGETOWN, Del – Delaware Capitol Police arrested a Bridgeville man for an assault on a police officer following an incident at the Sussex County Courthouse.

According to police, officers discovered a knife disguised as a credit card concealed in 22-year-old Sebastian A. Roque-Ortiz’s wallet during the screening process on Aug. 28. Police said when a Capitol officer seized the knife, Roque-Ortiz demanded it be returned to him and refused to leave when ordered to do so. While being placed under arrest, Roque-Ortiz resisted and a Capitol officer sustained lacerations to his hand and arm, according to police.

Police said Roque-Ortiz was also injured. Ortiz and the officer were treated for their injuries at Beebe Medical Center and were released, according to police.

Roque-Ortiz was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct, according to police. He was arraigned at JP Court #3 and released on a $15,100 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing.
