DOVER, Del. (WBOC) - Charging documents give a more complete sense of what police say happened during a police-involved shooting in Dover Friday afternoon.

Terrence Fletcher, 21, faces two gun-related felonies.

Dover PD says officers responded to a report of a person armed with a handgun in the of the 100 block of Governors Avenue in downtown.

A probable cause affidavit says when an officer made contact with Fletcher, Fletcher ran. The officer said he saw Fletcher with his hand in his pants running like someone with a gun tucked into his waistband.

Court documents show the chase only lasted 60 or 70 yards. Then there was a confrontation, during which an officer shot Fletcher.

The affidavit says nothing more about the shooting. The investigation into that continues. Chief Paul Bernat said Friday the officer was a three-year vet of the force with the street crimes unit. That officer is now on administrative leave, which is department protocol.

The court docs also say a revolver was found on the ground near Fletcher looking like it had just been thrown there.

Police say Fletcher suffered a wound to the thigh. He was taken to Kent General Hospital.

Fletcher is being held on a $20,000 bond.
