Two Dover Men Arrested for Attempted Murder

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Dover Police say they arrested two men for shooting another man twice within two hours.

Dover Police say just before 9:30 p.m. Friday, the Dover Police Department received a 911 call for a report of shots fired in the Hamlet community. Police say officers responded to the area but found no evidence at the time of shots being fired and no victims were reported.

Police say just before 11:15 p.m. Friday, officers responded to Whatcoat Apartments for a shooting and found a 20-year-old man shot in the chest. At that time, police say it was also learned that the victim was shot and suffered a graze wound to the leg in the earlier shots fired incident in The Hamlet.

Through the investigation, police were able to develop suspects and arrest 22-year-old Alex Joseph and 19-year-old Johnson Joseph, both of Dover, at their home on Freedom Drive. Police say they also found the gun they believe was used in the shooting.

Police say Johnson Joseph and Alex Joseph were both charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree conspiracy. Alex Joseph was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault, and first-degree reckless endangering. No photos were available as of Saturday afternoon.

While the Dover Police Department has arrested two suspects, police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips can also be submitted to law enforcement through tip lines maintained by Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or on-line at http://www.tipsubmit.com or through the Dover Police Department MyPD Mobile App.
