Cause of Small Fire at Nursing Home in Denton Under Investigation

DENTON, Md. – State fire officials are investigating the cause of a Tuesday night fire in the bedroom of a Denton nursing home.

According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Denton Volunteer Fire Company responded to Envoy of Denton, located at 420 Colonial Drive, at around 7:40 p.m.

Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 20 minutes, and damage was limited to the resident’s closet. Fire officials say the nursing home is operating normally.

Smoke detectors and sprinklers were present and activated when the fire began.

    At 2:34 am Sunday morning deputies were called to the Royal Farms Store, at 7900 Royalty Way, in Salisbury in response to a shooting. When deputies arrived, they learned that a physical altercation took place that led to one person producing a handgun and began firing. A female customer not involved in the altercation received minor injuries and was transported to PRMC. Police said a short time later two additional victims arrived at PRMC in their personal vehicle.
