DOVER, Del. - Dover police have arrested a 21-year-old Dover man for burglary and numerous other charges after a series of event unfolded Wednesday morning.

The Dover Police Department says officer responded to the 100 block of Willis Road around 1 a.m. Wednesday, for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police say the officers were told by the residents that someone kicked in the door to their apartment sometime between midnight at 12:30 a.m., and stole money, a sound bar, a laptop, and PlayStation 3 game console. Police say the residents told officers they saw a dark-colored Jaguar in the parking lot near the apartment with several people standing around it, which they believed was suspicious.

About 45 minutes later, police say officers found a vehicle matching that description in the area of Forrest Avenue and Fairway Lakes Drive. As an officer arrived, police say he saw the suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Michael Walker of Dover, removing a black shoebox from the vehicle. Police say walker saw the officer and took off on foot, but he was arrested a short time later.

Police say when the officers checked the vehicle, they discovered some of the stolen items, with the exception of the laptop.

Police say it was later learned that Walker was also wanted by the Delaware State University Police for Robbery 1st Degree and had several capias (bench warrants) for failure to appear and violation of probation.

Walker was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $11,500 cash bond after being charged with the second-degree burglary, theft under $1,500, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
