GOP Group Pumps $250,000 into Virginia Senate Races

RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- A national GOP group has donated $250,000 to three key Virginia Senate races.
The Republican State Leadership Committee said Tuesday it gave large donations to GOP candidates Glen Sturtevant, Nancy Dye and Hal Parrish.
Republicans hold a one-seat majority in the state Senate and Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe has made it a top priority to swing the chamber back under his party's control. Most of the focus in November's races will be on a handful of close contests, including those the RSLC invested in.
The RSLC is funded largely by corporate interests and some of its major recent donors include Walmart, General Motors and tobacco giant Reynolds American.
Ed Gillespie, who ran unsuccessfully in Virginia for the U.S. Senate in 2014, is the RLSC's former chairman and current consultant.
