Scheduled Power Outage in Seaford for Monday

Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del. - Residents living in Seaford, Del. should prepare for a several-hour power outage on Monday.

The City says Delmarva Power has scheduled a complete city-wide power outage for Monday, September 28, to last about four hours.

Delmarva Power says the outage will be so its contractor can safely complete replacing wires that go from the takeoff structure of its transmission line, to the switch at the Pine Street Substation. The City says it takes all of its power from the company at the Pine Street Substation.

The City says there may be a small delay in the restoration of power, which will be related to checking the phasing on the transmission system, followed by the City's electric department re-energizing the seven distribution circuits. The City says those circuits have to be re-energized one at a time, so that could take some time. No specific start time was said for the scheduled power outage.

If residents need assistance during the outage, the City says its office will be open, so it urges residents to call (302) 629-9173 or if it is a police or medical emergency call 911.
