SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - Gregory Jones does a wet and dirty job. But it's a crucial one. Jones drives a street sweeper in the city of Seaford in order to clear out the catch basins. In the past Seaford has suffered from flooding as a result, but Jones said he was hoping this week would be different.

"We're expecting a lot of rain," he said. "But we don't want any flooding. I'm sure the river will rise. But we're not expecting any street flooding if we can prevent it."

And Seaford is far from alone in worrying about flooding this week. In fact, both Sussex and Kent counties are under a Coastal Flood Warning.

In Oak Orchard, various parts of River Road were covered with water on Thursday afternoon, including the Chiefs Road and Nanticoke Avenue intersections.

"I'm worried," said Vicent Millman, a resident in Oak Orchard. "I was going to go away this weekend. And my neighbor was going to go on vacation to Puerto Rico. He had to cancel it and lose $200. We're worried that it's going to go into our house and we're going to have destruction."

In Dewey Beach, the Pier Point Marina was under water in parts. Business owner Shane Karlik said he was worried.

"Water getting into my shop," he said. "Floating away my wood and blocking material that I have. Just damage to the docks."

At this point the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center has not ordered any evacuations due to the flooding. However they are urging residents in vulnerable areas to consider relocating to higher ground.
