GEORGETOWN, Del.- Delaware State Police say a Millsboro man was killed after the pickup he was driving collided with a truck-tractor north of Georgetown on Monday night.

According to police, the crash happened around 9 p.m. as 37-year-old Joshua T. Fleming, of Millsboro, was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on Downs Road, approaching a stop sign at the intersection of Wilson Road. Police said that meantime, 45-year-old John M. Clayville, of Milford, was driving a 2011 International truck tractor owned by Perdue, with no trailer attached, westbound on Wilson Road approaching the intersection with Downs Road. Wilson Road has no stop sign and has the right of way, according to police.

Police said that when both vehicles reached the intersection, for unknown reasons Fleming failed to stop at the stop sign and traveled directly into the truck tractor’s path, police said. The large truck struck the driver’s side of the pickup, causing both vehicles to travel off the southwest corner of the intersection and into a wooded area, police said.

Fleming was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said he was properly restrained and extensively trapped in the truck. Police said Clayville, who was also properly restrained, was not injured in the crash but was taken by EMS to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into this accident.

Wilson Road was closed at Downs Road for approximately three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
