Suspect Charged in Aug. 3 Salisbury Homicide

SALISBURY, Md.- A Salisbury man has been indicted in connection to the Aug. 3 killing of 21-year-old Dommeir DeShields near the intersection of Anne and Baker streets in Salisbury.

A Wicomico County grand jury indicted 22-year-old Delonte A. Bryant, of Salisbury, on Oct. 5 on charges of first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, and felony possession of a regulated firearm.

Bryant is already in the Maryland state prison system for other crimes and is facing charges for a shooting incident that occurred on July 4 in Salisbury

Police said it was shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 3 that officers responded to shots fired in the area of Anne and Baker streets in Salisbury.  When police arrived, they found Deshields lying in the street with multiple gun shot wounds.  According to police, Deshields was walking down the street when he was approached by the suspect and shot. Deshields was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.  

A Wicomico County grand jury handed down the indicted for Bryant on Monday.He is scheduled to appear in Wicomico County court on Oct. 16 for an initial appearance and bail review.
