BERLIN, Md.- A call from a concerned citizen leads to a drug bust in Berlin.

Police responded to Bay Terrace Apartments Thursday morning after receiving a tip about drug activity in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 1998 Buick Park Avenue in the parking lot area that appeared to be engaged in illegal activity. Police say when they approached the car, the two male occupants tried to avoid contact with officers and walk away.

Police say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and searched both the driver and car.

When police searched the driver, 19-year-old Richard Mumford Jr.,  they found revealed several packets of heroin. A search of the vehicle revealed additional heroin packets, cash and three other cell phones. Police also found a loaded handgun under the driver's seat of the car.

During the investigation, it was noted that the vehicle has a large caliber bullet hole right in front of the driver's compartment. The vehicle was impounded
for further investigation.

Mumford is facing several charges including Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin w/ Intent to Distribute, Possession of Regulated Firearm in commission of drug related crime, Transport of Handgun in vehicle, Possession of regulated firearm under age of 21, and Wear and Carry or Transport handgun during drug related crime.

Mumford is being held on $25,000 bond.

This incident is still under investigation by the Berlin Police Department and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office Criminal Enforcement Team.

The location of a new waterfront hotel that recently broke ground in Ocean City is raising some eyebrows with neighbors in the downtown area.

The Cambria Hotel is being built in the vacant lot that sits just north of the Route 50 drawbridge, meaning it will be one of the first things drivers see headed into town.

Brian Plimack, who lives just behind the development, said the hotel is too much of a drastic change to the town's skyline.
