Lewes Man Sentenced for 2014 Killing of Homeless Man

Posted:

LEWES, Del. – A Lewes man accused of kicking a homeless man to death in 2014 has been sentenced to 12 years in jail.

Twenty-six-year-old Teveya Brittingham was sentenced in Sussex County Court Friday, after pleading guilty to manslaughter on August 31. He had been scheduled to stand trial in the death of 43-year-old Cornelius Henry.

Prosecutors say Henry was found dead in the vestibule of a Georgetown apartment building on Feb. 23, 2014. According to police, a trail of blood led investigators from the body to an apartment when Brittingham was found with blood on his pants and shoes.

Brittingham will also have to undergo a mental health evaluation.
