SALISBURY, Md.- The area surrounding the Old Union Station on Railroad Avenue in Salisbury has recently seen some upgrades.

The City of Salisbury has installed new sidewalks and street lighting to welcome a new farmers market to the neighborhood. Built in 1913 Salisbury's Union Station was an important hub for travelers. The building has sat vacant for many years.

The Knorr brothers, who already own several restaurants in Wicomico County, hope to have the farmers market up and running by the Spring of 2016. The brothers also say the building will serve as more than just a market place, but also as a community space for events.

The market will feature fresh produce from local farms. City leaders say the new market will also be an economic boost to the economy. The owners say when open people will be able to shop at the market on Wednesday's and Saturday's.
