Former SU Alumni President Killed in Crash while Jogging


FRUITLAND, Md.- Authorities are investigation a crash that left one pedestrian dead.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, deputies responded to a reports of a pedestrian struck in the 3000 block of Meadow Bridge Road.

Upon arrival, deputies found Fruitland EMS attending to the victim, 37-year-old Robert Shultheis, who later died from his injuries.

Police say Shultheis was jogging on Meadow Bridge Road when he was struck by a Ford pick-up truck driven by Brent Taylor of Eden, Md.

Shultheis earned his B.S. in elementary education from Salisbury University in 2000. He previously served as president of the Salisbury University Alumni Association board of directors. He also received the Alumni Leadership Award in 2013.

Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Unit is still investigating the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information regarding it should contact the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4891.
