CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Investigators say an electrical malfunction was to blame for a Wednesday afternoon fire that left a Cambridge home in ruins.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze broke out at around 2:40 p.m. at a two story home located at 527 Pine St. It took 45 firefighters from the Rescue (Cambridge) and several other area fire companies about an hour to get the fire under control.

There were no reported injuries. However, a dog died in the fire. Investigators said the fire caused an estimated $125,000 in damage to the structure and another $25,000 in damage to its contents.

Investigators ruled the fire accidental and determined it started in the first floor living room.

The Red Cross is assisting the home's occupants.
