FELTON, Del.– Delaware State Police say a 27-year-old man was injured Thursday morning after the dump truck he was driving overturned on Route 13 in Kent County.

Police said the accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. as Joshua F. Lineweaver, of Seaford, was operating a 1985 Ford Dump Truck northbound on South DuPont Highway (US13) in the left lane approaching Irish Hill Road just south of the Canterbury light. Troopers said that for unknown reasons, the truck swerved from the left lane across the right lane and off the highway into a farm field where the truck overturned on its passenger side, spilling stone into the field.

Police said Lineweaver, who was not properly restrained, was temporarily trapped in the cab of the truck before being transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers cited him for failure to remain within a single lane.

According to police, crews from the Department of Transportation and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control were called to assist with the cleanup from the fuel spill as well as the removal of the stone and upright the truck.
