Man in Critical Condition After Crash in Clayton

Posted:

CLAYTON, Del. (AP/WBOC) - Delaware police say a man is in critical condition after an early-morning car wreck in Clayton.

Police say it happened around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday when 29-year-old Jesus Manuel Ayala-Rivera was driving on Holletts Corner Road.

Police say Ayala-Rivera lost control of the car as he tried to negotiate a sharp turn, and slid off the roadway. The car overturned in a ditch.

Police say a passerby called the police after spotting Ayala-Rivera on the side of the road. Police say he was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say both alcohol and speed may have played a role in the wreck.

Holletts Corner Road at Walnut Tree Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
