SALISBURY, Md.– Authorities say two Wicomico County women are facing drug charges after a sheriff's deputy found heroin and syringes in their car during a traffic stop.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy pulled over 30-year-old Ashleigh Brimmer of Hebron in the area of Route 13 and Naylor Mill Road Tuesday afternoon for speeding and failing to stop. Based on the deputy’s observations, a K9 team was called in to scan the car. The sheriff’s office said the K9 detected the odor of illegal drugs, and a search of the car turned up heroin, syringes and other drug paraphernalia.

Brimmer and her passenger, 38-year-old Heather Bounds of Mardela Springs, were arrested for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. The sheriff’s office says Brimmer was released on personal recognizance, while Bounds was detained on $5,000 bond.
