MILFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police say one person was injured Tuesday morning after a school bus was rear-ended by an SUV south of Milford.

Police said the incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. as 47-year-old Wendy Lewis, of Milford, was operating a 2005 Chevy Tahoe southbound on Old Shawnee Road in the area of Brook Lane directly behind a school bus. Troopers said that meantime, 27-year-old Chelsea Carr, also of Milford, was operating a school bus and was stopping to pick up students at the next bus stop. Police said that as the bus lights were transitioning from yellow to red, the Tahoe failed to stop and struck the rear of the bus with the front bumper.

Troopers said Lewis was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital by EMS where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  She was cited for inattentive driving and no seatbelt, according to police.

Carr and a 16-year-old student on board the bus were not hurt in the crash, police said.
