Man Indicted on Charges of Fatally Stabbing Psychiatrist

Posted:

DOVER, Del. (AP)- A New Castle County grand jury has indicted a man on charges of fatally stabbing a psychiatrist in her home.

The indictment returned Monday against 21-year-old Christopher Frick avoids the need for a preliminary hearing that had been scheduled for Tuesday.

Frick is charged with killing 55-year-old Caroline Ekong, who was found dead in her home on Oct. 14.

Authorities say Frick later called 911 and said he had killed Ekong.

Police have said Frick was obsessed with Ekong, with whom he once had a "professional interaction," and that he had planned the killing for at least a year.

Space Heater Safety Urged as Temperatures Plummet

With temperatures expected to drop in the coming weeks, fire safety officials are urging people who use space heaters to warm up rooms or homes to be careful in where and when they use the devices.

Dover Assistant Fire Chief Chris Jacobs said there does tend to be an increased number of space heater fires once it becomes much colder. Those incidents, he said, are often caused by people who place heaters near combustible materials or leave them unattended while still on.
