SALISBURY, MD – Salisbury Horizons has named Ms. Yvonne Veronica Terry as the new executive director.
Ms. Terry is a Salisbury native who has served in the local non-profit arena for more than three decades. She has volunteered for countless educational initiatives throughout primary, middle, and secondary school programs including as PTA President, member of the Wicomico County Early Childhood Learning Council, High School Band Boosters Executive Committee, and High School Parent Liaison.
Terry is also an active professional volunteer in the community, having recently been a member of the board of the Maryland Non-Profit Association Standards for Excellence, and a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, as well as a past member of the Eastern Shore chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. She has volunteered with the Neighborhood Housing Service Center and as a Habitat for Humanity Family Selection Committee Member and Mentor.
“I am honored to have been chosen by the executive director search committee to serve the youth in our community through this great association,” Terry said, “What I will do is make sure Salisbury Horizons continues to promote excellence with its instructors, educators, tutors, coaches and mentors, thereby enabling excellence and character building within our children both academically and socially.
Dr. Harlan Eagle, as an educator, believes all children should have access to academic support in spite of life’s situations; and not only to benefit from small group learning environments but to have fun while they learn. Salisbury Horizons is poised for growth and sustainability for just this reason. There are many children who are on the waiting list to get into the program. As a full time executive director, we will honor Harlan’s vision of capacity building to add additional sites here on the shore, foster consistent relationships and increase the levels of community involvement among corporations, academia, civic organizations, and legislative support,” she continued.
Terry resides in Salisbury with her 2 cats, Doodles & Snickers, and is pursuing her Master's degree through American Intercontinental University. Her only daughter is a student of Hampton University’s MBA School of Business Graduate program.
