Veteran's Day Ceremony Veteran's Day Ceremony

SALISBURY, Md.- A ceremony was held Wednesday at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury to show appreciation for all veterans and their families.

There was patriotic music played and sung by several students from Mardela High School. The JROTC participated in the lowering of the colors. Those in attendance were specially honored at the ceremony with their respective branch of service announced. Several schools brought students to take part in watching the ceremony as well.

Vietnam veteran Donald Fitzgerald attended the ceremony and said, " I served in Vietnam, and you know when I came home we didn't have all the notoriety with the veterans coming home now. But the wall here at the civic center means a lot to my family. I have a cousin who died in 1966 in Vietnam, him and I were serving in the Marine Corps over there, so this service along with Memorial Day is real special to my family."

Organizers at the event said veterans had a mission that can't ever be repaid and Wednesday's ceremony was a way to show them and their families they care and they still matter.
