Construction on Bridge Over Tuckahoe Creek in Md. Complete

QUEEN ANNE, Md. - The first of two structures over the Tuckahoe Creek in between Talbot and Caroline Counties is complete.

For most of 2015, drivers crossing Tuckahoe Creek on MD 404 have passed within a few feet of the new eastbound bridge under construction.  On Friday, they will drive on the new bridge as the Maryland State Highway Administration shifts all eastbound and westbound traffic onto the the new bridge.  SHA says drivers should be extra alert while driving through the work zone and new traffic pattern.  

The shift will restore the MD 303 connection to eastbound MD 404, says SHA. 

SHA's contractor will begin construction of a new westbound span this winter. Estimated completion for the entire 1.58 mile MD 404 dualization from west of MD 309 to east of Cemetery Road is summer 2017, weather permitting. 

SHA awarded the $18 million construction contract to David A. Bramble of Chestertown. On average, more than 20,000 vehicles travel this portion of MD 404 each day and the route serves residents and businesses, travelers to area beaches and farmers as an agricultural corridor for the Eastern Shore.

    Authorities investigate after at least 25 dead horses were found on a rural property in Wicomico County, Maryland Friday morning. Lt. Tim Robinson of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said around 11 a.m., the Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Wicomico County Animal Control, began an investigation into the report of the presence of deceased horses on the property outside of Hebron.
