Last Pretrial Hearing Before Freddie Gray Case Begins

BALTIMORE (AP)- A Baltimore judge will hear the final arguments from prosecutors and defense attorneys before the first of six trials in the Freddie Gray case begins next week.
Officer William Porter, one of six Baltimore police officers charged in connection with the arrest and death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died a week after suffering a spinal injury in the back of a police van, is scheduled to begin Monday. Porter faces manslaughter, assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office charges.
Judge Barry Williams will likely address the number of character witnesses Porter will be permitted to call to the stand, and deal with a motion filed by Porter's attorneys to sequester the jury.
