NORTH DOVER, Del. - Delaware State Police say a Dover woman was killed when her car was hit by another car Wednesday night in North Dover.

Troopers say it happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday as 52-year-old Martha T. Barbo was driving a 2000 Toyota Corollo and was stopped at a stop sign in a private parking lot that intersects with US 13 northbound lanes, just north of Dyke Branch Road. Police say 18-year-old Davilliah Green, of Magnolia, was driving a 2011 Cadillac SRX northbound in the left lane of US 13 when the Corolla failed to remain stopped and attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Rt. 13.

Police say the Cadillac struck the driver's side door of the Corolla which then rotated clockwise 90 degrees and came to a stop in the roadway.  The Cadillac continued northbound crossing the grassy median and both southbound lanes of US13 before coming to a stop after striking a ditch with its front bumper.

Martha Barbo, who was properly restrained, sustained traumatic blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Davilliah Green was properly restrained and was transported by EMS to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where she was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the case.

US13 northbound was closed at Dyke Branch for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
