OCEAN CITY, Md – A Frankford, Delaware man was charged with driving while impaired after a three-vehicle crash in Ocean City.

According to Maryland State Police, troopers responded to the three-vehicle crash on eastbound Rt. 50 at Keyser Point Road at 1:42 p.m. When troopers arrived, they saw Giuseppe Rocco Belfiore, 33, of Frankford, Del., walking away from his car, dropping suspected hypodermic syringes onto the ground, police said.

Troopers performed sobriety tests and found Belfiore to be severely impaired, police said. He was treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries, but refused further medical treatment, authorities said. Police said a breath test showed Belfiore did not have alcohol in his system, and he refused a drug recognition expert examination to determine drug use.

Belfiore was charged as the at-fault driver for the motor vehicle collision, charged with DWI, CDS paraphernalia and related charges. He was taken before a district commissioner who released him on personal recognizance, police said.
