REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash involving a moped that left one person injured.

Police say it happened just before 2 p.m. on Saturday as Brittany Nelson, 26 of Georgetown, was operating a 2009 Kia Spectra eastbound on John J. Williams Highway approaching the Family Dollar Store.

Troopers say Robert Cleaver, 50 of Harbeson, was operating a 2011 Taquito Scooter in the westbound lane. As Nelson turned left to enter the Family Dollar parking lot, police say she struck the front of the scooter causing Cleaver to be ejected into the roadway.

Nelson, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash. She was ticketed for Failure to Yield Right of Way.

Cleaver, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported by EMS to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic in the area was impacted for approximately one hour as the crash was investigated and cleared.
