SNOW HILL, Md.– A company, which would operate in Snow Hill, is patiently waiting to find out if it is one of the handful of companies that will be selected to begin growing, processing and distributing medical marijuana in Maryland.

Positive Energy LLC has applied for all three types of licenses and the town of Snow Hill is standing behind the company’s efforts. Snow Hill Mayor Charlie Dorman said communities will get an economic boost from the newly-legalized product, regardless whether people agree with the new law .

“It’s happening, someone is going to benefit,” Dorman said, “Why not Snow Hill?”

If approved, Positive Energy will establish operations inside the Royal Plus building on Belt Street in Snow Hill. Royal Plus and Positive Energy are both owned by Matt Odachowski. While Odachowski doesn’t have specific figures as to how much the company projects to earn should it receive all three licenses, he estimates 40-50 jobs would be created.

“I am trying my best to bring additional jobs and businesses to the area.” Odachowski said. “We are hopeful that we will be approved for all three licenses to bring these new opportunities to Snow Hill.”

The Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission is currently in the process of reviewing applications and has not determined a date for when that will be complete. It is expected applicants will be named by the early part of next year.
