Princess Anne Is Moving Forward With Land Donation

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.-  The Town of Princess Anne plans to turn the land donated in honor of the Todd family into a community space. The town is in the closing process with the owner to finalize paperwork.

Rodney Todd, 36, and his seven children died earlier this year in their home due to carbon monoxide poisoning, after police said a generator was being used inside the house for electricity.

"Right now the land has been donated to us and it's still going through the process of closing. We haven't done anything with it yet; we'll be meeting in the upcoming months about what we're gonna do with it" said Garland Hayward, President of the Town Commissioners.

According to Commissioner Hayward, once the paperwork has been finalized, the town plans to hold a public meeting to hear ideas for the space from the community.

"Well I just see it as being a nice memorial garden, you know with a little waterfall, a serenity plot," neighbor Cynthia Jackson said.

Other neighbors said they would like to see it turned into a playground for children, a positive way to honor the memory of the family. There is no date set for when the public meeting will be held.
