Delaware State Police Arrest Two For Dover Motel Robbery

DOVER, De.- Delaware State Police have arrested two men in connection with the robbery at the Microtel Motel on Lebanon Road in Dover Friday night.

Police say at 7:13 on December 4th, a man entered the Microtel with a handgun and a bandana covering his face.  Police say the suspect confronted the female clerk and demanded money.  Police say the clerk refused, and the suspect ran away, and got in a black Ford Ranger pickup in the parking lot, which then drove away.  The clerk was not hurt.

Police say later that evening they pulled over a pickup matching the description, and arrested the driver, 55 year old James J. Meadowcroft Jr. of Felton, and passenger Joseph A. Rompa, 36 of Dover.  Police say they located evidence linking the pair to the robbery in the car.  

Rompa and Meadowcraft were taken to Troop 3 and both committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on default of a $50,000 bail.  Meadowcroft is facing charges of robbery first degree, aggravated menacing, and conspiracy first degree.  Rompa is facing attempted robbery first degree, aggravated menacing, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy first degree.
