CRISFIELD, Md.- There is some good news for businesses and homeowners in Somerset County. Help is back for those still trying to recovery from the damages of Hurricane Sandy.
The Small Business Administration has reopened the application filing period for disaster loans for damages caused by the 2013 superstorm. The SBA said they don't want people to be intimidated about applying for a loan.
"The process is relatively simple, if they just come by with any kind of documentation they have we have some customer service reps that will help them with the application process. If they can't make it down here, they can also apply online," John Frederick said.
There are three loan types available, home, business and economic. Kerry Palakanys said with the SBA's help she can finally finish rebuilding her life. She said she's looking forward to moving through the process.
"They were wonderful today," Palakanys said. "They asked me what I was looking for and helped outline what I would need to bring back for the application and were very helpful providing me both with phone numbers as well as letting me know they would be available here."
Those who would like to apply can do so by walking in to the SBA office located inside the Outpatient Center at McCready Hospital, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD. The application is also available online on the SBA's website .
