CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP)- Dollar Tree Stores Inc. has agreed to pay a $825,000 fine to settle a complaint over safety and health citations at its stores.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced the settlement Thursday with Chesapeake-based Dollar Tree.
Under the settlement, the company will implement safeguards to protect workers from hazards related to blocked emergency exits, obstructed access to exit routes and electrical equipment, and improperly stored materials.
Dollar Tree also agreed to include safety and health issues in a corporate newsletter and develop a safety and health program consistent with OSHA guidelines.
The company also agreed to the monitoring of 50 stores by an independent auditor over two years. Those findings will be shared with store managers, who must correct identified issues within three weeks.
