ROCK HALL, Md.- Authorities are investigating a Thursday night house fire in Rock Hall that left one person dead.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said that at around 9:44 p.m. firefighters were called to a fire at two-story home located at 21444 Catholic Ave. Upon
arrival, firefighters discovered heavy fire throughout the home. Investigators said more than 40 firefighters extinguished the fire within a hour.

An interior scan of the home revealed the sole occupant died in the fire, authorities said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to identify the victim and determine the cause of death.

State Fire Marshal investigators and Maryland State Police are investigating the origin and cause of the fire.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Office at (410) 822-7609.
