ROCK HALL, Md. – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has released the identity of a homeowner who died in a fire last week.

A preliminary report says 62-year-old Marilyn Anders died of smoke inhalation and thermal burn injuries when her Rock Hall home burned down on Thursday.

According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Anders was found dead in the area of a second floor bathroom. Fire officials say the fire began in the first floor living room, but a cause has not yet been determined.

Anders was the only occupant of the home other than a pet dog who also died.

Fire officials say the house was built in 1877 and contained no working smoke alarms.
