WOODSIDE, Del. - Two Delaware men are facing charges after police arrested them in connection with a mid-afternoon purse snatching at a Woodside gas station.

Delaware State Police say just before noon on Monday a 62-year-old woman was leaving Uncle Willie's on South DuPont Highway when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her purse from her wrist. According to state troopers, the suspect then ran with the purse across the highway toward the Walgreens parking lot. Police say the victim was not injured.

Troopers were able to locate someone who matched the description of the suspect behind the Walgreens. That man was 24-year-old Brandon Staats of Townsend.

Police say as they continued to search for someone who was with Staats at the time of the crime, 24-year-old Joshua Bryant of Dover came running out of the Walgreens and across Walnut Shade Road, before entering an Arby’s restaurant.

According to police, troopers took Bryant into custody in the bathroom and found him with some of the victim's documents including her social security card.

Police say the manager of the Walgreens told troopers Bryant had entered the store and gone directly to the bathroom, where he could be heard rustling through the garbage can. He then left the store and was seen running across the parking lot toward Arby's.

Troopers say they later recovered the victim's purse and some of its contents in the Walgreens garbage can and were able to return most of the items to the victim.

Staats was charged with robbery and conspiracy, while Bryant was charged with conspiracy and had five other warrants, including a violation of probation out of Kent County. Police say both men were committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $35,000 and $1,500 respectively.
